Over two million people left large urban counties between July 2020 and July 2022 and moved to the burbs and rural communities1 Many of those people have bought houses, settled into their new lives, and, especially now that interest rates have increased, are extremely reticent to move back to the cities, or even take on a regular commute. These people are not just employees they are customers as well. So, the impacts on business are multifaceted and require changes to sales and marketing channels and practices, supply chains, inventory management, distribution and delivery networks, office and warehouse facilities, and team culture.
