Business Outcomes

Within 6 months of Pepper Foster’s engagement, the client had achieved:

  • Alignment between Privacy, Security, and Data Governance functions
  • Compliance of all public releases
  • Optimized ingestion and validation of new initiatives
  • Improved transparency of ongoing initiatives and actions
  • Accelerated privacy and security reviews
  • Increased collaboration between technology, product, program, and change teams

Challenges – Problem Statement

Our client’s innovation team wanted to use newly emerging machine learning and AI technologies to discover new insights and opportunities from the data it has been collecting over 40 years.

This data included personally identifiable information (PII), and thus a strong Privacy, Security, and Data Governance structure needed to be put in place to protect both consumer information and the client from litigation.

The Privacy team, Security team, and Data Governance teams had not worked together in any formalized way prior to this engagement. Building an operational model including shared goals and vision were critical for project success and ongoing stability.

Solution Approach

Gap Analysis: Synthesized client pain-points, opportunities, and concerns from the existing working team to inform a proposal for an ideal future state.

Process Mapping & Optimization: With the goal established to accelerate the compliance process, Pepper Foster identified key requirements, chokepoints, and stakeholders.

Stakeholder Management: Key leaders and operators were informed and updated with relevant information.

Futureproofing: Developed the process using scenario planning to maintain flexibility, mitigate risk, and scale the process given uncertain future needs.

Change Management: Socialized and trained permanent staff to sustainably continue collaboration model in a low-touch way.

While a select group of organizations are realizing immense value, a new MIT study, "The GenAI Divide: State of AI in Business 2025," finds that a staggering 95% of enterprise AI pilot programs are failing to deliver measurable financial returns. This apparent contradiction is not a flaw in the data but a fundamental insight into the current maturity of the market...
Right at the bottom of the NY Times Dealbook email that went out to subscribers on Saturday August 16 there was a small, almost throwaway piece about some surveys on AI adoption and ROI in business. The survey results show that AI is on the same trajectory as Dot Com was back in the late nineties.
